Why did we build an Assisted Living Facility and why did we build it in New Town?
We spent a great deal of time doing research and due diligence on the long-term care industry and specifically on the Williamsburg marketplace. We recognized that there was an investment opportunity in assisted living, which is the fastest growing segment of long-term care. However, the options that were available, in Williamsburg prior to opening Edgeworth Park at New Town, were limited to very high-end facilities with large buy-in fees that only the wealthy could afford and/or other facilities that were all over 20 years old. We felt that there was a need for Assisted Living and Memory Care that could be provided in a high-quality, state of the art manner to the private-pay-market without the huge up-front fees. The hometown feel and neighborhood amenities of New Town drove our site selection – from the continuing education and cultural opportunities afforded by its proximity to the College of William and Mary and to all of the recreational advantages, the Main Street Shopping Mall, the 12-screen movie theater, and the dozens of superb restaurants.
This project has really been in many ways a labor of love for the three of us. It is a way to give back to the community where we have each chosen to live, work and raise our children.
