LaToya Terry, Memory Care Director
LaToya’s 20+ year journey in healthcare has been one of continuous growth and deepening purposes. Prior to joining Edgeworth Park as Memory Care Director, her previous positions in healthcare included Medication Technician, Activity Director, and Resident Care Coordinator.
LaToya says each position has shaped her into the caregiver, leader, and advocate she is today.
“I’ve been dedicated to healthcare since 2004; serving as Memory Care Director is my truly my calling,” says LaToya. “I most enjoy building meaningful relationships with our residents and their families, educating others about memory care and helping them understand the journey, and most importantly, caring for those who need it most, which I consider an incredible gift. Every day I am reminded of why I chose this path, and I would not trade it for anything in the world.”
For LaToya, each of Solera Senior Living’s core resonates in everything she does. “Compassion guides how I treat each resident with dignity, kindness and love. Communication is the foundation of how I built trust with residents, families, and my team. Commitment is my unwavering promise to show up for those who need me most. And, creatively allows me to find new ways to connect with memory care residents, meeting them exactly where they are,” LaToya says.
As an incredibly proud mother of “four amazing young men,” LaToya says they are her “greatest accomplishment and biggest motivation every single day.” When she’s not on the job, LaToya likes to curl up with a good audiobook while her favorite jazz album plays. She’s also a fan of line dancing, as well as cooking. And on movie night, LaToya chooses movies that portray real-life stories. For example, Titanic, which she says never gets old no matter how many times she has seen it.
What does a perfect vacation look like? “Take me to the beach!” she says. “It’s not just a destination for me; it is my peace. It is where I recharge, reflect, and come back ready to give my absolute best to the people I can for every single day.”
